Rainbow Mountain, also known as Vinicunca, is one of Peru's most breathtaking natural destinations. Its reddish, yellow, and turquoise hues create a unique landscape in the Andes that attracts travelers from all over the world.
Start your day early with a pick-up between 4:30 and 5:00a.m., heading to Cusipata at approximately 3,332 meters above sea level. Here, enjoy a hearty breakfast before continuing the journey for another hour to the Phulawasipata viewpoint (4,633 m), where your trek begins. The hike to Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) is about 1.5 hours (3.5 km) and offers stunning views along the way. Admire Wiñayritty Mountain, crystal-clear glacial lakes, and the vibrant scenery of the Andean highlands, including Puca Cocha Lake. Upon reaching Rainbow Mountain at 5,070 meters, your guide will provide fascinating insights into the region and the mountain's unique colors. Take your time to soak in the breath taking landscapes and capture incredible photos. After exploring, return along the same trail to Phulawasipata, where your vehicle will take you back to Cusipata for a delicious buffet lunch. Finally, we return to the city of Cusco, arriving around 5:00p.m.
