DAY1: CUSCO - KM 82 (PISCACUCHO) - HUAYLLABAMBA Distance: 13 km | Hikingtime: 6 hours Your adventure begins with hotel pickup in Cusco between 6:30 - 7:00 a.m. After a scenic drive to Ollantaytambo and a breakfast stop, continue to Km 82 (Piscacucho), the official start of the Inca Trail. Along the way, visit Llactapata, an archaeological site where your guide will share its rich history. End the day at Huayllabamba (3,000 m / 9,842ft), your first camp amid the stunning Andean landscapes. DAY2: HUAYLLABAMBA - WARMIWAÑUSCA - PACAYMAYO Distance: 11 km | Hikingtime: 6 - 7 hours After breakfast, challenge yourself with the trek's most demanding segment: a 3 - 4 hour climb to the first pass, Warmiwañusca (“Dead Woman”), at 4,200 m / 13,780 ft. Enjoy breath taking views of the valleys below and participate in a traditional coca leaf offering to the sacred mountains Verónica and Wayna. Descend to Pacaymayo (3,600 m / 11,811 ft) for your second night of camping, surrounded by spectacular Andean scenery. DAY3: PACAYMAYO - PHUYUPATAMARCA - WIÑAYHUAYNA Distance: 16 km | Hikingtime: 7 hours After breakfast, hike to the second pass, visiting Runcuracay, an archaeological site discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1915. Continue to enjoy majestic views of snow-capped mountains Pumasillo (6,000 m/19,685 ft) and Verónica(5,700 m/18,700 ft). Descend to Sayacmarca (3,540 m/ 11,614 ft) before arriving at Chaquicocha for lunch and a short rest. Continue to Phuyupatamarca (3,650 m/11,975 ft), capturing incredible photographs of MachuPicchu from afar. The day ends at Wiñayhuayna camp, your base for the night a mid lush vegetation and ancient stone pathways. DAY4: WIÑAYHUAYNA - MACHUPICCHU - CUSCO Distance: 3 km | Hikingtime: 1.5 hours Rise early for breakfast at 4:00 a.m., beginning the final hike to Machu Picchu at 5:00 a.m. Marvel at orchids, begonias, ferns, and colorful birds a long the way. Reach the Sun Gate (Inti Punku, 2,490 m/ 8,169 ft) and witness your first breath taking view of Machu Picchu, just 1 km from the site. Capture stunning sunrise photos and feel the awe of the ancient citadel. Descend to Machu Picchu entrance, enjoy a guided 2-hour tour, then explore the citadel at your leisure. Take the bus to Aguas Calientes for lunch and optional hot springs (not included, approx. 10 soles). Finally, board the train to Ollantaytambo and return to Cusco, completing an unforgettable journey.
