The tour begins with hotel pickup. The first place to visit will be Cusco Cathedral, which houses valuable colonial artistic treasures, such as paintings from the renowned Cusco School and works by various religious sculptors. Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun), where we can appreciate the blend of Inca construction, featuring perfectly polished stone walls. Sacsayhuamán, where we will admire enormous stone blocks of up to 40 tons perfectly fitted together. Our guide will explain the importance of this site both before the arrival of the Spanish and during colonial times. Qenqo (Labyrinth), named for its maze-like pathways. The most important feature here is an ancient ceremonial table. Puca Pucara (Red Fortress), an important control center for those entering Cusco during Inca times. Tambomachay, the final site of the day, where the Incas’ advanced hydraulic engineering can still be appreciated.
We will pick you up from your hotel at 5:00 a.m. and travel by private transport to the train station in the Sacred Valley. After approximately 1.5 hours, we will arrive in Ollantaytambo to board the train to Km 104 (Chachabamba), where we begin the Inca Trail. We will visit Chachabamba and Choquesuysuy, then hike toward Wiñay Wayna (2,650 m.a.s.l.), where we will have lunch. We continue toward Inti Punku (Sun Gate), with stunning views over Machu Picchu. Finally, we descend to Aguas Calientes.
After breakfast, we take the bus to Machu Picchu. You will enjoy a guided tour of approximately 2 hours through the Inca citadel. Free time for photos. Return to Aguas Calientes and then train back to Cusco.
Hotel pickup at 7:00 a.m. Visit Pisac and its impressive terraces. Enjoy a gourmet lunch in Urubamba. Visit Ollantaytambo fortress. End in Chinchero, known for traditional textiles.
Pickup at 9:00 a.m. Visit Moray archaeological complex, an Inca agricultural laboratory. Visit Maras Salt Mines, known for its salt terraces. Return to Cusco around 3:00 p.m.
