Day 1DAY 1: CUSCO - KM 104 - CHACHABAMBA - MACHU PICCHU - AGUAS CALIENTES

We will pick you up from your hotel at 5:00 a.m. and take our private transport to the train station located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where we will begin the luxury Inca Trail tour. Along the route, you will see majestic snow-capped mountains and farmlands. After approximately an hour and a half, we will arrive in Ollantaytambo to board the train that will take us to Km 104 (Chachabamba at 2,200 meters above sea level), where we will begin the ancestral Inca trail. Here, we will visit the archaeological complexes of Chachabamba and Choquesuysuy, hidden within the semi-tropical forest. We will ascend the mountain while enjoying spectacular views of flora and fauna. After approximately three hours of hiking, we will reach the archaeological site of Wiñayhuayna (2,650 meters above sea level). We will also explore this beautiful Inca construction, discovered in 1942 by Peruvian archaeologist Julio C. Tello. Located in the Vilcabamba mountain range, it is often referred to as a “mini Machu Picchu” due to its layout similarities. This site showcases an excellent example of Inca agriculture, with numerous agricultural terraces along the slopes where crops were cultivated. Its name comes from an orchid abundant in the area, meaning “forever young” in Spanish. We will take a short break here and enjoy lunch. Wiñayhuayna has more than 20 buildings, one of which is called the Temple of the Rainbow, also known as the Temple of Fertility. We will then continue towards the Inti Punku viewpoint (Sun Gate). Along the way, you will observe diverse flora such as orchids, ferns, mosses, and more. After about an hour, we will finally reach Inti Punku (Sun Gate), one of the most impressive viewpoints of Machu Picchu, located about 1 km from the archaeological site. After a short rest and time for photos, we will take the bus down to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you will spend the night at Inkaterra Hotel.
